MassTransit are incredibly excited to welcome London’s Mark-Henning for our 2nd party of 2008.
Mark has risen up as one of the international underground’s true players - recording for a volley of acclaimed European labels by night and slaving as a corporate whore by day. But now Mark has freed himself from the 9 to 5 shackles and slog of the city to concentrate on his passion for music full time - ROCK N’ROLL!
Born in 1977 to English and German parents, he has spent most of his life in England, though has never forgotten his German techno roots. Inspired by a whole range of music (from Dan Bell to Dinosaur Jr. to Ed Rush & Optical), Mark-Henning’s sound sits somewhere between house and techno, with a healthy dose of futuristic bleeps, funk, darkness, groove and deepness.
Mark has established himself as a player in the scene over the last couple of years, not just through his productions (on labels such as Cynosure, Trapez, Freude am Tanzen, Foundsound, Einmaleins, Frankie, Morris Audio, Safari Electronique, Mo’s Ferry, Milnor Modern), but also through his European-wide performances - mixing up his own clever style of deep, yet jackin’ house and techno to get the dancefloor kicking up a sweat.
His releases have found their way into the record boxes of the likes of Craig Richards, Brett Johnson, Akufen, Fumiya Tanaka, Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin to name just a few. Additionally his tracks have been included in compilations such as MANDY’s latest Fabric mix and Magda’s Minus mix - as well as acheiving airplay on BBC Radio 1’s late night underground shows. Watch out for his debut album on Soma in the summer of 2008 plus more remixes and EPs.. stay tuned!

Vernon Bara [Immigrant/Toys For Boys]

Born in Belgium in 1978, Vernon Bara’s first contact with electronic music and DJing came in 94. By 2000, he felt compelled to start producing his own tracks and the same year, his first ep was signed by Koenie on a sub-label of Wallys Groove World. Since then, Vernon has had over 50 EPs and remixes released either as solo projects or with his various production partners. His releases now feature on compilations across the world, from Japan to Germany, as well as France, Switzerland and Italy.
In 2006, Vernon turned to a more personal and less compromised sound with his Lust Addict project. Under this guise, he has played all over Europe; with gigs in the UK, Spain, France, Germany & Poland. The Lust Addict project has been released on Toys For Boys, Lessizmore, Obsolete and Immigrant.
As for his DJ sets; you can expect a tight, punchy approach to our beloved pigeonhole, hausno: funky AND sexy minimal tech-house with just a soupçon of car-alarm and spazno.

RUN have just celebrated their 3rd birthday in what was a brilliant warehouse party with Detroit legend Dan Bell [7th City/Accelerate] and Background label-boss Andy Vaz [Background/Yore/A Touch Of Class]
After a year off, MASSTRANSIT will be starting a run of parties from February with guests such as Michal Ho, Markus Vector, Todd Sines & Lust Addict.
Hodge & Alex (MASSTRANSIT) will be playing records with Russ & Chris (RUN) from 10pm til 5am.
This party is free until 2am, after which the management start charging on the door.
It’s also Russ & Hodge’s bithdays, so come down & help us celebrate!

Alison Marks [Dessous]
After a year off resting, MassTransit is back. Our first party, on Saturday November 17th, will feature the talents of the delightful Alison Marks, as well as the MassTransit residents; Alex, Hodge & Ben.
In 1996 Alison was the first female dj to win Muzik magazine’s Bedroom Bedlam, a mixtape competition also won by James Zabiela and Will Saul, and began hosting a show on pirate radio Frequency FM . After moving to London, her popularity rose fast and she played all over UK at clubs and nights such as The End, Fabric, Plastic People, Robodisco, Wiggle, Secret Sundaze, The Cross, Turnmills and also internationally at clubs such as Twilo (New York), Muna (Germany), Moog (Barcelona), The Room (Valencia), Paradise Garage (Portugal), Radost FX (Prague), Tropical House (Los Angeles), as well as a brace of festivals across the world. In 2002 she was offered the chance to host her own weekly night at Propaganda club in Moscow. More recently, two of her tracks were picked up by Steve Bug and released on Dessous Records in March 2006, and she will release ‘Galapagos’ in sept 2007 on Punk’d records, and ‘Yellow Cherry’ (remixed by Tigerskin and Mike Shannon) on Lichen records at the end of 2007.
